2013 Recap
Hello friends –
It’s 2014!!
I couldn’t be more relieved to close the door on 2013 and to start anew in this still very young year.
Looking back at some of the brighter moments of 2013, my annual gig on Make Music New York Day, sponsored by then-City Council Member, now-Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer’s office, was as wonderful as always. I am so honored to have participated in this event for seven years and enjoyed seeing many “regulars” at this event, like Miriam and George. For me the gig was definitely a “right thing at the right time” in my life. I am very thankful to have had this opportunity to sing for the community.
Beyond the Upper West Side, I couldn’t be more grateful, surprised, and humbled by the number of CD purchases, CD/track downloads, and single track streams during 2013. I don’t know who you are, but I do get a summary of what has been purchased and it’s pretty incredible – purchasers from Japan, Australia, and Europe and streaming from most streaming music services!! The internet is such a blessing to independent artists such as myself who without a recording contract or business representation are still able to present their work to worldwide audiences. The internet allows our work to speak for itself, and I thank you very much for responding.
Moving ahead to 2014, I will be getting my voice back in shape, networking, and giving a small performance at one of my kids’ schools within the upcoming months. Printing up new business cards and finally putting my repertoire list together will be next. 2013 was a challenging year, which forced me to rethink my life. I look forward to applying this new perspective and to seeing what it yields in 2014.
Wishing you much health and happiness in 2014,
Sarah
